Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has introduced new enhancements for members registered for Blue Connect, the online member portal, providing a more streamlined and accessible experience. Commercial and Medicare Advantage members can file medical out-of-network claim forms directly within Blue Connect. This digital submission allows members to bypass traditional mail and track the status of their claims in their Document Library, with customer service able to view forms and receipts to offer support.
Blue Connect enables members to submit their Private Health Information (PHI) authorizations online, a feature extended to Medicare Advantage members. This improvement ensures that sharing and managing PHI is simpler and more secure.
Members enrolled in paperless delivery can also receive email alerts when an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is processed. Those with verified email addresses will receive Enhanced EOB Emails with PHI details, including the patient’s name, date of service, and claim information. Members without verified emails receive Basic EOB Emails without PHI, allowing paperless access without email verification.
On October 23, Blue Cross NC transitioned another group of Blue Connect members to paperless delivery, advancing its commitment to a sustainable and efficient member experience.
