Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) offers three individual dental plans. You can buy one even if you don’t have a Blue Cross NC health plan, and you can cover yourself, your spouse, your child or your whole family.
Preventive Plus PPO: for people focused on preventive care, or who might otherwise go without coverage. Lowest premium. Benefit maximum $1,500.
Core 1000: comprehensive coverage with the same benefits in and out of network. Benefit maximum $1,000.
Value 1500 PPO: comprehensive coverage with richer in-network benefits and the highest benefit maximum, $1,500, for a higher premium.

On the Preventive Plus PPO, space maintainers and full-mouth X-rays count as basic services. Out-of-network dentists may charge more than the allowed amount, and you pay the difference, so you save the most with an in-network dentist.
Premiums are based on the age of each covered member.

Rates are per member per month and expire 12/31/26. Family members can choose the same plan or different plans; members on different plans are billed separately.

Out of network, the Exam Plan reimburses up to $39 for the eye exam; the Exam Plus Plan also reimburses set amounts for frames, lenses and contacts. Rates expire 12/31/26.
