Teladoc Updates for Individual Under-65 Members in 2025

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is introducing significant updates to Teladoc services for individual under-65 Affordable Care Act (ACA) members in 2025. These changes aim to streamline telehealth cost-sharing across plans and expand virtual care options, enhancing both member convenience and affordability.

For Blue Local (EPO), Blue Home (EPO), and Blue Value (POS) plans, telehealth services will now be available at no cost to members. Previously, these services required a primary care provider (PCP) cost share. Members on Bronze Health Savings Account (HSA) plans will continue to pay 0% for telehealth services after meeting their deductible. Additionally, for plans offering three $0 PCP visits, telehealth visits will no longer count toward the visit accumulator. To simplify the process, members will no longer need to pay upfront for Teladoc services unless they are enrolled in a Bronze HSA plan.

Virtual office visits through Teladoc offer numerous advantages. They provide members with convenient access to care from the comfort of home, eliminating the need for travel or waiting in a doctor’s office. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with mobility challenges, busy schedules, or those living in rural areas with limited access to healthcare. Virtual visits also enable quicker consultations, allowing members to address their health concerns promptly, which can lead to improved health outcomes.

Blue Advantage and Blue Care plans are also seeing valuable enhancements. Starting in 2025, virtual dermatology services will be included in Teladoc’s Primary360 package at no cost to members, marking a significant expansion of this virtual solution. Members on Bronze HSA plans will pay 0% for dermatology services after meeting their deductible. Blue Care plans will also begin offering Primary360, which already includes $0 virtual services for acute care, behavioral health, nutrition, and primary care.

These updates highlight Blue Cross NC’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable telehealth solutions for all members. By broadening its virtual care offerings, Blue Cross NC ensures flexible, timely, and cost-effective access to high-quality healthcare, reinforcing its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the community it serves.
