What Medicare Covers When Traveling

With many people finally able to start planning for travel again after Covid-19, it's essential to consider your health insurance coverage while you're away. While there's nothing like exploring new places, being prepared for any unexpected costs is necessary to ensure you're not left significantly out of pocket on your vacation.  Where you're traveling, and the type of Medicare policy you have can impact your coverage while you're away. It can also be a good idea to purchase additional insurance depending on your coverage. If you have any questions, a local health insurance agent can help you decide on the right policy for you, so you can rest assured and enjoy your trip.

What Is Short Term Health Insurance?

Short-term health insurance provides temporary coverage that typically lasts from a few months to a year. This type of health plan isn't regulated by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), so they're not required to provide the minimum essential health benefits other plans mandated by the ACA do. If you're in between health insurance plans, short-term health insurance can be an affordable option if you're looking for health coverage. Depending on your circumstances, short-term plans can even be more affordable than a major medical plan.

Using High-Tech & High-Touch To Simplify Healthcare

Perhaps more than any other industry, health care represents the collision of humanity and technology—nothing is more personal than our health care. But for many, determining the best option for care is an overwhelming process. Knowing when to seek care can be just as difficult as combing through the volume of medical information offered online. This can lead to people spending more time, more money and using more services across the health care system than necessary.
At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), we are working to provide a more simplified health care experience for our members. By combining technology and human interaction, we’re helping members find the right resources for their care journeys.

How The Family Glitch Proposed Rule Changes Could Save You Money

In April 2022, the Biden-Harris Administration proposed a rule to strengthen the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by fixing the ‘family glitch’ that could save families across America hundreds of dollars each month. The goal of this proposed rule is to revise the existing interpretation of eligibility relating to premium tax credits for families. If finalized, the rule will extend the ACA Marketplace health insurance subsidies to millions more people throughout America, including many North Carolina residents.
